On September 24, 2007, Alex Frishberg conducted a seminar on “Structuring Foreign Investment in Ukrainian Real Estate” before the Swedish-Ukrainian Business Club. The seminar before the Swedish and Ukrainian business community took place in the Golden Gate Pub. Alex Frishberg discussed the various options of acquiring unfinished construction, buildings and land with an emphasis on structuring investment of foreign companies to minimize taxation.

Frishberg & Partners Addresses Official Opening: “Investment Support Web-portal of Ministry of Foreign Affairs”

Vladimir Lukovich, a senior attorney with Frishberg & Partners, was one of the keynote speakers at the opening of the initiative “Investment Support Web-Portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine,” on April 16, 2007. The event was organized by Softline, one of the leading software developers in Ukraine. The portal is aimed at supporting investors by providing them with the latest information about Ukraine’s investment climate, as well as promoting the country on the international arena.

In his presentation, Mr. Lukovich emphasized the importance of obtaining the latest information in rapidly changing legal and political environment and stressed the high value of close collaboration between different state organizations. Mr. Lukovich added that the web-portal, the first official informational portal of Ukraine, is a great leap forward.

Frishberg & Partners was one of the sponsors of the Adam Smith Conference, Ukraine’s Investment Summit, which took place in London on 12-14 March. Mr. Frishberg presented the firm’s legal investment guide “Getting Started in Ukraine”.

The conference offered unrivaled insights into recent market trends and investment opportunities. This year, over 500 representatives from 22 countries took part in it.

Alex Frishberg Participates in the Swedish-Ukrainian Business Club Seminar in Kyiv

February 7-8, 2007

Alex Frishberg delivered a speech at the business seminar “Ukraine as a Business Partner”, held on February 7-8, 2007, in Kiev, Ukraine.  The event, arranged by the Swedish-Ukrainian Business Club jointly with "Nordpraktik - New Managers for Ukraine" Program, was dedicated to issues of foreign investment and development of business in Ukraine, industrial analysis, as well as financing of the development of Swedish businesses on the territory of Ukraine.

In his speech on "Options for Establishing Business in Ukraine: Considerations, Implications and Recommendations", Mr. Frishberg highlighted the legal aspects of company formation, selection of appropriate business forms, registration, strategic investment and taxation. Special emphasis was placed on the acquisition of corporate rights in companies and real property related thereto, as well as due diligence on real property objects.

The Swedish-Ukrainian Business Club was established on June 21, 2006 as a non-governmental organization to support a platform for business development between Ukraine and Sweden by joining the forces of Swedish and Ukrainian companies, individuals and other partners into one joint network.
