He is also the President of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council, a non-profit <\/span><st1:country-region>U.S.<\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> organization established in October 1995 to advance <\/span><st1:country-region>U.S.<\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> companies&#8217; trade and investment interests in <\/span><st1:country-region><st1:place>Ukraine<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Alex Frishberg<\/strong> is a senior partner of the law offices of Frishberg &amp; Partners. He graduated from Washington University School of Law (J.D., 1988), practiced at <\/span><st1:city>Hogan<\/st1:city> <st1:state>&amp;<\/st1:state> <st1:state>Hartson<\/st1:state><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, <\/span><st1:state>D.C.<\/st1:state><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> office, before opening his law firm in <\/span><st1:place><st1:city>Kiev<\/st1:city>, <st1:country-region>Ukraine<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, in 1991. Mr. Frishberg\u2019s practice areas include: Mergers and Acquisitions, Joint Ventures, Real Estate, Privatization. Membership: District of Columbia Bar, American Bar Association; Chairman, Legal, Government Relations and Economic Committee, American Chamber of Commerce in <\/span><st1:country-region><st1:place>Ukraine<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, 1992-1995 and 1999.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Ambassador Roman Popadiuk<\/strong> was the first U.S. Ambassador to <\/span><st1:place><st1:country-region>Ukraine<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. He has successfully supported <\/span><st1:country-region><st1:place>U.S.<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> companies and individuals exploring various business opportunities worldwide. Ambassador Popadiuk served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Press Secretary for Foreign Affairs under President George Bush, a position he also held toward the end of President Reagan&#8217;s administration. He is a retired member of the Senior Foreign Service and has received a number of awards, including the State Department&#8217;s Superior Honor Award and the Meritorious Honor Award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Anders ?slund<\/strong> has been a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute since 2006. He is also an adjunct professor at <\/span><st1:place><st1:placename>Georgetown<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype>University<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. He examines the economies of <\/span><st1:country-region>Russia<\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, <\/span><st1:country-region>Ukraine<\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, and <\/span><st1:place>Eastern Europe<\/st1:place><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. He worked at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace from 1994 to 2005; he also worked at the Brookings Institution and the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies. Mr. ?slund served as an economic adviser to the governments of <\/span><st1:country-region>Russia<\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, <\/span><st1:country-region>Ukraine<\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, and <\/span><st1:country-region><st1:place>Kyrgyzstan<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Alexander Paskhaver<\/strong> is a world-recognized expert in privatization matters. Education: Ph.D., <\/span><st1:placetype>Institute<\/st1:placetype><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> of <\/span><st1:placename>Economy<\/st1:placename><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> of the <\/span><st1:placetype>Academy<\/st1:placetype><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> of <\/span><st1:placename>Science<\/st1:placename><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> of the <\/span><st1:country-region>USSR<\/st1:country-region><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, <\/span><st1:city><st1:place>Moscow<\/st1:place><\/st1:city><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> (1972). He has advised several of Ukrainian Presidents, Prime Ministers, as well as the State Property Fund, where he co-authored key legislation that governed large and small-scale privatization.
