On June 10, 2008, Alex Frishberg participated in the Roundtable “Surprises of Entrepreneurial Activity in Ukraine” before a delegation of Estonian businessmen. During the roundtable, other political scientists and investment bankers discussed various “surprises” connected with doing business in Ukraine. The speakers shed light on the basic components of the entrepreneurial environment, as well as a practical overview of the business climate in Ukraine. Alex Frishberg noted: “In Ukraine, there is a battle between three strong leaders, who do not have enough time for management of the country. As a consequence, the legislation is not executed effectively, and the shadow economy grows.”
