- About Mykola Veresen
Mykola Veresen is one of the most recognizable and influential figures in independent Ukrainian journalism. A prominent Ukrainian journalist, television presenter, public figure, political activist and an actor, Mykola is widely known as a host of a popular TV program, “Taboo.”
Mykola began his public career in journalism and TV in 1990 at BBC in London, after which he worked for Russian and Ukrainian BBC offices for nearly a decade. He lectured at Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, was cast in several Ukrainian movies and campaigned to become a member of the Ukrainian Parliament.
Mykola received several Ukrainian and international awards in journalism for his distinguished accomplishments, including “Person of the Year” in 1998 and Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) International Press Freedom Award in 2005, in recognition of his courage and efforts in defending press freedom during the Orange Revolution in Ukraine.
